π‘Ύπ’‚π’π’Œ π‘»π’˜π’ 𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒔 is a beautifully written story. It’s actually a frame that narrates two other related stories! I had a hard time getting into it at first, but I’m glad I stuck it out.

Parts of one story are hilarious. A last name like Cadaver is the stuff of childhood legends. Aspects of all the stories are mysterious as truly sad events are slowly unpacked.

The main theme is to take time to understand others before forming an opinion. Thus the saying, β€œDon’t judge a man until you’ve walked two moons in his moccasins.”

As you read, the stories help you see that people are more complex than you think and it takes time to understand their true motivations. Sometimes you have to β€œwalk in their shoes.”

✝️ Not overtly Christian, but God is mentioned in a neutral to positive light and the theme of empathy and forgiveness is in accord with Scripture.

🀐 The grandparents are a bit rough speaking, but, boy, do I love them! Some classroom discussion about cussing.

πŸ’‹ Simple kisses, mostly awkward.

🎟️ The story may be best for the older end of middle grade, or YA.

πŸ“ The Native American versus Indian debate was interesting. Content includes death, mental illness and complex family situations. Please DM if you would like more detailed information.
