While attending college in upstate New York, Shay and her friends meet a charismatic man who seduced them into a web of lives. By senior year Shay and her friend Laurel manage to escape. Now eight years later Laurel is found dead and Shay hears of it, of all places, on her favourite podcast. Recruiting the help of the podcast host Shay travels back to the college to search for answers into Laurel’s death. The deeper Shay goes the more secrets she uncovers and the harder she will find her way out.

Phewwww this book is DARK! For someone who reads horror I was quite jarred by this one. I even had to put it down a few times. The writing transcended the book and after I read the authors note at the end, finding out it was based on real experiences completely made sense to how real the story felt. To add to how fantastic the writing was, the characters were so well written as well.

The pacing was excellent, it’ll keep you flipping the pages. I would’ve preferred something a bit different from the ending but it was a solid read. Thank you @raincoastbooks and @bookmarked for sending the advanced copy my way, this was absolutely bonkers but great, 4⭐️.

Shoutout to both @trissinalovesbooks and @cozyinthenook for picking this up on the fly with me and reading all of my sporadic texts about it!
