Be Safe, Love Mom: A Military Mom's Stories of Courage, Comfort, and Surviving Life on the Home Front by Elaine Lowry Brye

4.0

A book to the Moms and Dads of military personnel - if Your kids go to serve in war zones. My oh my, hearing this all, it seems like this is harder for the parents than for the kids, because if the information gap (and for the kids not allowed to give most of the secret information). If some war zone explosion is in the news, the parent always assumes it has to to with their kids dying. And even later finding out it wasn't, they feel guilty and bad for other parent's children to have died there. Wouldn't want this to my worst enemy... I have 3 sons, hope they will not grow up feeling the have a mission to serve in the war zone. Huh. But on the upside, it was heartwarming to read about the extended family - You can count on any other parent (of the war zone soldiers) to be there for you, to help You with what ever. As if they feel the biggest mission they have is to help other parents going trough hell as well.

BTW did You know that about 22 military veterans per day commit suicide? About 8000 a year. Post dramatic stress disorder is a huge tax to pay, too…

A tip: when a member of Your family is away, put his large photo on an empty space in the dinner table. The family will have fun with him and include him - and the person that is away will also feel like he is being missed.
