Finally breaking new ground vs what I'm familiar with from the TV series. This volume really mixed it up with jump in passage of time and shift of character focus away from Holden - fostered excellent and satisfying growth in other characters. Clarissa, Bobbie and Amos shine!

Can't help but wonder if the political situation at the time they were writing influenced the storyline, I'm looking at you Trump, a empty shell/idiot version of Duarte? At least the theme of dictatorship/empire...

Final comment, that I do love about this series (& Firefly) is how authentic the 'life as part of a crew/family'these books are. Having sailed on numerous boats for extended periods of time and also lived in group housing situations (managed a few hostels), these books nail the special camaraderie and feeling of home once experiences while part of a crew.
