In 1977 Claire Lake, Oregon was shaken by the Lady Killer murders. Beth Greer was the perfect suspect, a rich eccentric 23 year old woman whose car was seen fleeing the scene of the last murder. After being acquitted she retreated to the isolated mansion. Flash forward to 2017, Shea Collins a receptionist by day/true crime blogger by night meets Beth by chance and gets her to agree to an interview. As Shea grows closer to Beth the secrets they both keep begin to unravel and something just doesn’t fit.

It’s very hard for me to enjoy a thriller from beginning to end. Usually the main characters make such terrible choices, and I know that’s the point but it just doesn’t work for me. The Book of Cold Cases was pleasantly surprising! The main characters were both smart and cunning. There was no dumb choices and I was rooting for them both. I truly am a character driven reader!

The plot was well crafted and I really enjoyed the twists as well. This read like true crime with a side of paranormal. The only thing is I wish it wrapped up a little quicker that’s all. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique thriller. Thank you so much @penguincanada for a copy in exchange for an honest review, 4.5✨.
