Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney

3.0

TW: self harm, blood/bleeding, grappling with health condition, sexual content, mentions of alcholism/getting drunk, depression

THIS BOOK IS SO INSANELY SIMILAR TO NORMAL PEOPLE
-skinny Irish white girl mc with trauma and bad self image
- brooding, complex buff Irish white guy love interest who can't express emotions
-very detailed little moments insignificant to the plot (my personal fave)
- characters are in the arts/ liberal minded scene
-vacation moment at a sunny Mediterranean place ‼️with drama‼️

i liked normal people better tho

this took me wayyy to long to finish, ya girl was trudging through. i would pick this book up, read it on and off for about an hour, and only have gotten through about 10 pages. that being said, the ending was worth waiting for. it was satisfying to see these characters (sort of) fit in their puzzle pieces more clearly. it didn't feel forced as well. also random thought but if this was a murder mystery thriller book (which i kind of thought it was in the beginning), Melissa would be the killer
