Well, here we are at the last book ready for the epic ending and I think that author Brandon Mull delivered. There were new characters whose authenticity needed to be vetted, new creatures, and many new tests and challenges.
I liked how the closer we got to the end, the more confidence the reader could take in that the teams were formed and now it came down to bravery and tactics.
There was a part where Seth finds he much complete some insane quest to give them the chance to stop the Zzyx from being opened. While it seems like a bit of a tangent, I see how it just game more room for Seth to come into his own as a legitimate hero. Kendra also emerges finding her power and strength. And who would have guessed that Newell and Doran would step up so highly to the occasion?? There adventures with Vanessa were great comic relief.
It was a long read, but it felt like great pain was made to tie it up well. Fabelhaven has been a really fun series to read with my son!
