Admission by Jean Hanff Korelitz

3.0

Maybe a bit repetitive, maybe telegraphs the plot twists too much, but I still liked this. I really enjoyed the glimpse into the college admissions process, though both the central character and the author seem a bit overly defensive about the imprecision of that process. At first the characters were quite opaque and I didn't connect fully with them, but some of them grew on me as more was revealed. There was some complicated stuff around motherhood in there that left me a bit uneasy (some feminist ideas on the surface but some psychological stuff that undermines that message.)
