Finishing this book is something that is very bittersweet, for a lot of reasons. This series, as a whole, is something that has been with me (insomuch as a book series can be with you) for so long and I just never finished it. Going back and rereading it all, ending with the book that I never got a chance to read, was way more impactful that I had expected it to be.
At the same time, this book felt so much like saying goodbye to someone you know you will never see again. The author does a fantastic job imparting the weight and sorrow that someone feels just by living when you never expected to or at the cost of the people you love. I know that the ending of a series can be a very divisive thing because you can't please everyone, but I really appreciated how this book ended. It's far from perfect, but it's lovely and made me cry more than once in the last handful of chapters. I'm so happy I took the time to revisit these books.
