I had high hopes for this thriller. I feel like everything I read described it as twisty and taut, a real thrill ride with an ending you can’t see coming. Perhaps I hallucinated this, because this book was nothing if not predictable.
Yes, there were plot reveals, but I felt they were handled so clumsily that they did little but ripple the shallow pool of this story. I felt no connection to the main characters. The writing was so cliche and, frankly, unoriginal. The twist were untwisted so far out, you expected the rug to be pulled out from under them again and when it isn’t, your disappointed that they called a goat, a goat and it really was a goat all along….Yawn.
I gave it two stars because it kept my interest, sort of. I was very interested in finding out the big twisty reveal and then the last page was read and I looked up and down and all around and no twist was to be found. It had all been disclosed ages ago.
