The Bullet That Missed
by Richard Osman
I hate the body shaming in these books, and I find them overly frenetic and silly, and yet I keep reading them and will probably read the next. I’m not sure why except that they scratch some sort of itch I have. I have heard that Osman feels like he has been body shamed for his height, and I wish he would explore that and have his characters grow in this regard. Why not have Joyce learn about it and Chris come to some sort of self-acceptance that doesn’t rely on shame, restriction, and weight loss?
