I absolutely loved this, although I wasn’t sure I was going to as it took a little bit to get into a rhythm. Eli Bell grows up in 1980s suburban Brisbane with a mute brother, a drug dealing step father, a former con for a babysitter and a Mum just trying to do her best. There were moments when I laughed out loud and some moments that only Australians who grew up in the 1980s will understand. Great characters, brilliant writing, thoroughly enjoyable.
