"Nothing is as powerful as a promise"

SYNOPSIS:
In 1943 the Carver family move from the lively city to a sleepy beach town to escape the war. As soon as they arrive eerie things happen. What do the haunting dreams, a garden full of moving statues, an unsettling box of home made films and a shipwreck below the sea have in common? The carver family have fallen into unfulfilled promise and are now unable to escape.

THOUGHTS:
Hauntingly beautiful 5☆'s. Carols weaves supernatural themes so masterfully into his stories. Some parts where pretty scary and had me desperately reading as quick as I could to find out that happens. Which wasn't hard as this book reads very easily. It was originally  targeted to YA readers. At 200 pages it's so faced paced but I never felt like I missed anything. The plot was great, characters where well developed and the ending was not disappointing. I've always struggled to give Carlos' books one genre. But all in all, strong book, would recommend this short read.
