This book was beautiful. Beautifully written, beautiful themes, and just overall beautifully done.
It was so captivating that I finished it in 24 hours (it’s also not very long), but I wish I had taken longer to read it. The prose is so well-crafted and enjoyable to read, I wish I had the patience to linger on every phrase and truly absorb it. At times it felt a bit superfluous (hence the 4.5 stars) but you cannot deny the author’s true talent. I was engrossed in the characters and devoured the portrayals of love and what it means to be yourself.
Open Water is a wonderful reminder of what it means to be human, and also that love doesn’t have to be forever to be meaningful.
