The Puffin Keeper by Michael Morpurgo

There is something really special about light houses. I was very lucky and grew up near one so when it was really foggy I could hear it quietly from my bedroom window. As an adult I feel very nastaligic about lighthouses and they always bring to mind the warmer months when I could listen to it with my window open at night. Because of this, I always crave books about lighthouses in the Spring.

The Puffin Keeper was a sweet and beautiful story about a boy who is rescued from a shipwreck by the lighthouse keeper whom he has an immediate connection with. He goes back to visit and they rescue an injured puffin together. It is so sweet and heart warming. I read it on my kobo so the images were black and white but still so charming. Highly recommend for adults and children alike.
