This is a chaotic, quickly written review. Read in May 2025 over audiobook and ebook. Kennedy Ryan writes friendships so beautifully. The love and support of community is beautiful. The storyline is so clearly parallel to America right now. The CFA tries to take down Aspire for racial discrimination since they help Black women-owned businesses get started with specific grants. Same same to the affirmative action case. Mav is so in love with Hendrix from the get go, which is lovely, and he is confident with zero ego. There’s a bit of “not like other men” and “not like other women” vibes for sure. It was sad that Zere cut off Hendrix, and I also understand. It just sucks when there’s hate between women over a man. The Alzheimer’s storyline with Hendrix’ mom was so heavy and sad. It took me back to when my grandma had Alzheimer’s. It’s so a painful thing to witness.
Graphic: Racism
Moderate: Grief
Minor: Death of parent
