This book highlighted what it's like for a family to grieve a loved one. How everyones secrets slowly came undone and pulled them tighter together in the end. Beautifully told. All of these characters had so much depth to them; I loved how you understood all of their pain and why they were who they were. I love that every relationship was explained and navigated. I had no lingering questions about characters.

Just like in "Little Fires Everywhere", this author is great at knitting topics of race, gender expectations, and sexuality into one book. Highly recommend. This should be a book that is mandatory for schools.
