Very much weird-fiction rooted in Japanese folklore; the prose was very stylistic and might not work for most, and there were many turns and sudden shocks when blunt language is used in macabre situations. Lost points on bit of clarity as it moved too fast without much explanation or enough subtext so the meaning was a bit lost at the end. The beginning was delicious though. Not enough stakes and consequences to make me care fully
