A very interesting cross section of life. The whole story is very well done, showing off elements of Southern small town life, racism, xenophobia, incurable diseases, guilt, crime and criminality, religion and religion as a guise for horror.
I'd had it for a while, since it was a Prime First read but hadn't been in the mood to start reading just yet. But I'm glad I did pick it up, because it managed to present a very good story, and I was captivated by the very well put together elements.
Highly recommend it, especially over anyone who may have read the first Alex Cross. I found that to be a lot less palatable than this, and the elements of racism was far better shown here in the way they blend with everyday life.
