Doll Bones
by Holly Black
I've read a lot of Holly Black's books. I love her writing. So it made me a bit sad that I was not able to feel that strongly for this one. Maybe my mindset was wrong. I had heard this was a scary book. But it was just about growing up, about friends growing apart and having new interests, which all took place while they were on a larp quest to have their doll find her resting place.
If I would have gone in with other eyes, maybe I would have enjoyed it a bit more. Now I was waiting for it to get creepy, and nothing really happened. It's a mystery book. Yes. But not horror. A bit of a thriller, but more a mystery.
I really liked the beginning of the book. It started off in a way that I felt drawn in right away. But then when they go on their quest it just felt like nothing happened even though they did do a couple of things. I just thought something was missing.
