Dear Child
by Romy Hausmann
4.5 stars
I am going to be brief with the synopsis because the less you know going into this one, the better!
Lena was just rushed to the hospital after a hit and run accident. Accompanying Lena is her daughter Hannah. The police start to think that Lena was abducted and is a woman named Lena Beck who has been missing from the area for the past 14 years.
The story is told from 3 points of view: Lena, Hannah, and Lena’s father Matthais.
This book is being described as Room meets Gone Girl. Yes it involves abduction/captivity and a shocking twist but Dear Child is neither, it’s entirely it’s own entity.
Dear Child is the first thriller I have read in over a month. I have read so many thrillers in the past year that I was getting burned out completely from the genre. But Dear Child is not one of those mediocre run of the mill thrillers. In fact, it actually pulled me put of my thriller slump!
Filled with shocking revelations and surprising twists once I got started reading I could not put this one down.
This book has some very dark and disturbing content and I wouldn't recommend this to the faint of heart. But if you are looking for a darker thriller with a unique storyline that centers around a mystery, then you will love Dear Child.
