Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

5.0

I loved Queenie. Candice Carty-Williams is on the Women's Prize for Fiction longlist and she is definitely a contender. The book is a powerhouse, but in a relatable way. Queenie is a character that is likeable, who you want to be friends with but who you also want to shake. The book explores a range of themes including domestic and sexual violence, grown up jobs, grown up friendships, grown up relationships, female pleasure, identity and "casual" racism.
