Circe by Madeline Miller

5.0

“Daedalus did not long outlive his son. His limbs turned gray and nerveless, and all his strength was transmitted into smoke. I had no right to claim him, I knew it. But in a solitary life, there are rare moments when another soul dips near yours, as stars once a year brush the Earth. Such a constellation was he to me.”

This is my second time reading Circe, and this just as beautiful as I remembered it to be. I have a particular interest in the women in Greek mythology (Natalie Haynes is a great author of this genre as well), but what sticks out most about Circe is her complexity. Miller does not shy away from her wrongdoings, but also shows the true heart of our favorite witch. I cannot wait for Miller’s next novel.
