I last read this when I was eight, and am so happy to have revisited it at 34. It is a truly beautiful tale, and Bilbo is a relatable protagonist. I also loved the ever-present narrator. We owe so much of fantasy to Tolkien.
I also listened to the Andy Serkis-narrated audiobook as I read, and there are not enough superlatives in the world to convey how wonderful a reader he is. I typically do not have the patience for audiobooks, and yet he was able to keep my attention the entire way through.
