The Unicorn by Iris Murdoch

4.0

A sublime exploration of obsession, power, enchantment, and cabin fever.
This strange story seizes its reader, opening a world of many possible philosophical discussions - some of the main points of focus here are projecting your feelings onto someone else, obsessing over the idea of them you had placed on a pedestal, and ultimately breaking yourself when the spell is broken.
What an eerie, fascinating read this was. Thought provoking, yet so simple at its core. Definitely one of the most beautifully (and masterfully!) written books I have ever laid my hands on.
