Midsummer Murders in Holland! With all the tea, scones and suchlike (can you really make your own clotted cream?) it feels very English indeed, almost as if it translated, with just the odd subtle reminder that we are actually in Holland. The chapters are very short, which is nice, but sometimes a little too much, and they have proper headings, which I like. They often end in quite ridiculous cliff hangers, which is quite entertaining. To ensure that it is cosy crime, it is set in a closed rural community and features a cat. Police detectives in cosy crime are either geniuses or idiots, and in this case it is an idiot, with a couple of amateurs unravelling who did it.
This book is ideal for a pleasant read in the garden, with insects buzzing around and tea on hand. Very relaxing.
