Loved this. Jones' book, An American Marriage may have garnered Oprah's approval and become a bestseller as a result, but in my opinion, Silver Sparrow is the stronger book. The narration and exploration of mother/daughter relationships is strong, poignant, and sharp in this novel; and perhaps because it is a topic seldom explored in a fictional realm, the implications of bigamy on all parties involved are delved into with intriguing clarity. Jones also touches upon several interesting observations on class structure. A really good read and one of my favorite books I've read in 2018.
