Dragons. Caring and ruthless dragons. Dry humoured dragons. They are everything in these books. [And are the best characters].
I did have to reread some sections because the formatting and sentence structure doesn't suite my reading pattern all the time. Some of it is discombobulated.... but in sections suitable to what I think is going on in the head of who's point of view it is. I think some more details in areas would help with the world building and magic system... HOWEVER, my counter to that would be that the readers are limited to what Violet knows. Which is honestly restricted in this storytelling as a part of the storyline.
