In some ways, this is a good follow up to the previous books, and very possibly the right decision to at least take a break from Rhys and Feyre whose stories reached a conclusion. However, the character chosen to lead was the most annoying character in these previous books and
Feyre’s story continues anyway with a dangerous pregnancy that almost kills her.
Personally, I think these elements could have been done better, either during this book or with earlier changes.

Still, there are many good scenes with Nesta’s personal journey and the relationship with Cassian. Then again, both struggle to be consistent, with very poor moments mixed in for each. There’s a bit of a lack of making sense that often comes up, from
the details of the blood rite
to
Amren and Nesta’s argument
but a lot of it is made up for by
Gwyn and Emerie
. Overall it’s fun to read, but possibly could have done with more care and more momentum given the time investment asked from the reader for the longest book on the series.
