People Change by Vivek Shraya

Really sad to say that this one didn't quite land for me. I loved I'm Afraid of Men so much that I will absolutely continue to follow Vivek's work, but I kept feeling like the point was simultaneously belaboured and circled around. The personal anecdotes felt impersonal somehow. I found things a bit scattered. I so respect art and writing as "work in progress" being made public (I can imagine it's difficult to open yourself up to criticism when you feel you yourself are a work in progress, and you yourself are the focus in a personal essay), but I am open to the idea that maybe I wasn't in the right place for this work.
