My Friend Anna: The True Story of a Fake Heiress by Rachel DeLoache Williams

4.0

There were a few organizational decisions I didn't like (such as starting the book off with the scene at the Moroccan hotel even when we don't know any of the other players involved) but overall I found the (true!) story riveting. Rachel really kept everything authentic - especially with the streams of verbatim text messages going back and forth, and her commentary on why and how she compiled all of the "receipts" even before going to court had even crossed her mind.

Though I'm very interested about the difference between Rachel's story (optioned by HBO) and Anna's story (optioned by Netflix) - especially since Rachel seemed to have a number of potentially less than charitable things to say about Netflix during the trial scenes.
