The thing about this book is that for sort of most of it there's really nothing happening. But then all the things that DO happen are a) really awesome and b) completely NUTS. Same goes for the characters who are so earnest and trying their best but also so totally unhinged and illogical in the way only teenage protagonists can be. Same also goes for the worldbuilding which doesn't always make sense  but is so unique and vibrant and colorful, if you'll forgive the expression, that it stuck with 14-year-old me enough to make me want to revisit the book as an adult to see if I still liked it. Turns out I do still like it, but in a different way than I remembered liking it, which is sort of a delight to find.
Also, having read Gravity is the Thing which is an adult novel by the same author last year, it was really really fun to see which themes reoccur and how they reflect differently in different genres. I love seeing that with an author.
ALSO: tackled it as an audiobook this time around and thought all the narrators were excellent and that the book did actually benefit from having multiple, which not all books do.
