Alex Aster, please write more romance bc this was delightful!
i've never read a billionaire romance before, so at the beginning when i realized that was the trope, i was a little apprehensive. i REALLY hate the "rude, cocky alpha male" type of mmc, and i was afraid that the billionaire guy would be that way, especially since it is how he comes off in the first scene. BUT THANK GOD Parker Warren is actually a cutiepie and so down bad for our main female character.
the romance between Elle and Parker was adorable, with it going from one-sided hate to friends to attraction to love. i enjoyed their little dates together, and Parker being so over the top with his affection was really fun to read about. i do wish they "enemies" would have been enemies for a little bit longer, because i feel like the eventual romance would have been a little bit more gratifying that way.
i LOVED the discussion about family dynamics in this book! this book did make me cry twice, because Elle's struggles with her family were so touching and a little bit relatable for me. i always love romance books that have a little more substance apart from just the love story, and this book delivered.
the one bit i did not enjoy was the ending; it felt rushed and just conflict for the sake of conflict. but overall this was a good time!
