Disappointing. I was so interested to read a story about a 21st century gardener restoring an old garden from the turn of the (20th) century - intriguing. The research! The plants that would have been popular then, the styles! How did the gardens fit into the built environment?! All that rot.
Well, I should have known. This is one of those dual timeframe novels that are so darned popular now - so popular that this one is actual THREE! And the one from WWII, which is what I think the author really wanted to write about, has too many main characters. I got interested in the land girl character, but she faded away too soon.
And it was mostly about who could pair off with whom, in each one.
It was fun anyway.
