Same Time Next Year
by Tessa Bailey
I haven't had much luck with Tessa Bailey books lately but this sounded fun. At first I was liking it. Then the famous, horribly cringey dirty talk came in.
"You told your husband 'fuck the rubber and give it to me raw' didn't you sweetheart?"
“creamy wife pussy”
Aside from that the speed and ease he got his Green Card in is laughable, the man interviewing them sees them dry humping in the parking lot and "knows when it's the real deal". Also one quick Google search showed me that at 27 Sumner is too fucking old to be drafted as a rookie into the NHL.
These characters are also really one dimensional, they have only one personality trait each. With this being a novella though I don't really expect too much but I've read shorter novella's where the characters have more personality.
I really don't want to give up all hope on Tessa Bailey but I probably should. Every time I read her books I literally cringe and/or laugh out loud at the dirty talk. I was able to finish this one though, when I couldn't finish My Killer Vacation, so I guess that's something. I gave Sumner a little bit of a break over the same things that I hated about My Killer Vacation since he actually knew Britta and didn't just meet her.
If you usually enjoy Tessa Bailey's books you will probably like this. If you are on the fence, just save yourself and read the reviews instead.
The only reason I'm giving this three stars is because I thought it was fun at first, and then just got worse and worse as it went on.
