This was sold to me as ‘adult sexy Harry Potter’ so I got this book immediately. I don’t think that’s an accurate description, as it’s much much closer to an adult sexy Twilight.

This book had me hooked, even though it was wildly frustrating at times. I enjoy all the history references, but really can’t get over the fact the author never mentions Palestine. They talk about the Old City of Jerusalem and current day Israel. Which, seems weird to me. Since Israel was literally created in the 40’s, it’s very telling this author always uses Israel when mentioning this area of the world. For all of the history mentioned, not one mention of the fact that it’s actually called Palestine and has been for a really fucking long time.

I haven’t read the next books in the series yet, but I highly doubt this detail will change in the future books. If at any point they visit Israel in the series and don’t mention a lick of apartheid, I’ll absolutely lose my mind.
