Similar to the first book, I felt McGuire got a little too repetative and preachy about the representation in this book. Just like Nancy constantly thinking about what her asexuality means, Cora spent a lot of time in this book thinking about how being plus sized has impacted her life. This time, however, I'm not able to say if Cora is a good example of that group or not like I could with Nancy.
Besides that, this book had a more solid plot than the last two. There was more structure to the story and a set goal. On the other hand, the characters in this one seemed a bit weaker. It's good to see Christopher and Kade back, but the three girls along with them on this quest seemed a bit more one dimensional.
