In short, this is a typical college romance between 2 characters that have daddy issues which makes one of them less than confident and the other unwilling to commit. Yadda yadda they end up together at the end.

I really expected there to be more fun summer camp vibes a la camp rock but this was really really boring because of how they just keep repeating the same things over and over again like there really isn’t much depth to their characters aside from their daddy issues. There’s also a lot and I mean A LOT of tell rather than show. It’s like exposition after exposition which really doesn’t serve well for the story since it’s such a simple storyline.

The kids feel like paintings on the walls of the scenes they’re in because they’re barely there. Like we don’t really see them interacting and hanging out much with the kids though that’s what they really should be doing majority of the time. Like if you want to make us believe that the two of them really love being around the kids and have a good relationship with then then you gotta show us.

Also I genuinely don’t believe in all the inappropriate thoughts one can have when around kids. Like they’re not teens anymore, they seem to have some semblance of responsibility so please give them that at least. Like once or twice is fine but not allll the time.

I kind of feel like it’s so rushed and not well thought through because it’s like nothing much really happens and don’t get me wrong, I love slice of life books and slow burn romance so…I would just say this book wasn’t the best execution of that. I think given a bit more time and rewriting, this book could really be great because the premise and characters are like almost there but not quite. It could really have been a very nice and cozy small town summer camp type of romance story which I suppose was what the author was going for.

Sad to say but this is probably the last book I’ll ever read from this author because she really disappointed me twice. I mean she writes the steamy scenes really well but that’s really just about it.
