By the Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead
by Julie Anne Peters
What an unrelenting downer of a book. As a hopelessly introverted person with a tendency to cling to every failure or criticism, I understood the narrator's terrible self-esteem. I imagine it's possible that everyone in her life could've so horribly mishandled the bullying and depression. I accept that for some people sometimes suicide can be seen as the only option, and that's something that shouldn't be ignored. But it might've been better not to use a first person narrative. Moreover, I am upset that the narrator only found a true friend/love interest after she lost the weight. Really?
