I really loved Lulu, her voice, her relationships, and especially her complicated feelings about her father. She was deeply compelling, relatable, and nuanced, and I loved her so much. Pilar, I had trouble connecting with and honestly her story was just so sad that I almost quit the book. I'm glad I stuck with it because the relationship between the two of them was fascinating, and for once I think this book did a pretty good job with shifting dual timelines. I thought the ending was delightful but I wish there had been more resolution between the two of them. Also, I live for Selena references.
