Taming Demons for Beginners by Annette Marie
4.0

I made the mistake of starting this book in the night and ended up sleepless just to finish it. Robin is a relatable character - short, merciful, fraught with some social anxiety, just trying to cope and survive. And Zylas, damn. His stoic nature coupled with his keen curiosity about humans, food and the mortal world creates such an endearing and great character.

I loved the banter and newly formed relationship between our main characters, as we get to watch them gradually trust and rely on each other. I can see why they work so well together, with Robin's quiet respect and empathy to his plight, and Zylas' cleverness and yearning to return to his world.

I think I actually prefer this to the original series. It provides a new perspective to the otherworldly and supposedly evil demons, as well as a refreshing take on the demon-contractor relationship when built on equal standing. Definitely expecting to breeze through the rest of this side series.
