This book was such a chilling display of abusive relationships. It was truly horrifying to read through. I felt so much sadness for Constanta, Magdalena, and Alexi, and yet even with their vampiric nature, something about the relationships and dyamics felt so, so human. The characters were so interesting and nuanced, and I really liked the POV being in a first person almost confessional stance.
By far my least favorite part of the book was the short reference to the Harkers. It felt like the rest of the book was leaning on the inspiration and canon of Dracula, but that was the only time that it really crossed over into an overt reference. And it didn't feel like it was in place with the rest of the book.
