Natchez Burning by Greg Iles

This is a very long novel (too long?), that finishes on an open note. To have closure, we must read the following novels, and that's kind of a shame.

It is really well written and the characters are interesting and, for most of them, really well developed. I do not like Caitlin at all and do not understand how we are supposed to find her endearing or understand why Penn loves her.

The intrigues are well thought out, engaging. Reading in the afterword that several of the murders are based on true stories surprised me.

I will have to read the next one, to get to know how the rest of the story unfolds.
