Worlds Collide
by Chris Colfer
When I finished enchantress returns I found a review someone wrote where they said that they hate Chris colters sense of humor bc it feels like he’s constantly reminding you that he’s witty. Now that I’m done the series I think that his humor is just technically funny, you can tell he really wants to be charming. When he set up jokes I felt like I was watching him set them up brick by brick and when the punchline came it seemed like everything from before was just written in service of that. Not that it’s not funny because I definitely laughed, but just that I see what they mean. Because when compared to someone like Rick riordan, i can really see a difference. Riordan is like your funny friend telling you a story, and colfer is like a stand up comedian. You can tell hes TRYING to make you laugh, and it’s casual of a set up.
I also saw this in Chris colfer in an interview of him from when he published his 20th book, and when asked how he was so prolific he responded like “I have many hacks. Like for example, if you turn around on the toilet the back becomes a table.” I saw that one being set up, like he planned that joke or told it a million times.
