Alpha by Audrey Faye

4.0

This was a pleasant surprise. I had this on my TBR list for a while and finally decided to try it. I finished it in one sitting. While I have come to have a love/hate with paranormal fantasy books now this one was just great: well-written, with an interesting plot and deep characters.

The plot focuses on a new alpha taking over a broken shifter pack (mostly wolves). I have always loved books about how people become leaders and the way it takes to slowly gain trust and this book was that. ([b:Lady Knight|153800|Lady Knight (Protector of the Small, #4)|Tamora Pierce|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1215394344l/153800._SX50_.jpg|1031900] is one of my top 5 books and one I re-read on almost a yearly basis because of this) Watching the characters and interactions just left me wanting more.

There were hints of future romance but none in this book, which I also liked. I’ll keep reading the series to see if it stays as high as this one did in my expectations.
