“Paradise: If communism is Paradise, why do we need barriers, walls, and laws to keep people from escaping?”

This book was definitely one of my highest anticipated for 2022. And it was fantastic! I loved [b:Salt to the Sea|25614492|Salt to the Sea|Ruta Sepetys|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1437084512l/25614492._SY75_.jpg|27126244] and [b:Between Shades of Gray|7824322|Between Shades of Gray|Ruta Sepetys|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327873479l/7824322._SX50_.jpg|10870318] more than this one, but the Ruta Sepetys greatness was certainly present.

It's no secret that the best part of Sepetys's works is that they focus on untold stories in history. I have never heard of, let alone read about, a novel taking place in 1980s communist Romania. But she just blew me away. I love Sepetys's clear writing and the way she portrays people suffering in their everyday lives and the climaxes of their lives.

I do wish this book was a bit longer and denser, and I could have done without the romance (it seemed a liiiiittle forced. But those are my only critiques. I flew through this book, I would definitely recommend.

Have a wonderful afternoon.
