My first graphic novel to read this year and it’s totally a good one! I love the graphic and the characters are showing their emotions really well. It feels so real! The story about eating disorder is very well written. It hurts me that she should throw away everything and even get anxious about the calories she ate. This graphic novel also shows about the common stereotype of being thin = pretty and fat = ugly. But what’s the point of being thin and not happy? Instead, suffering? It’s so sad that Valerie’s mom couldn’t understand her (maybe she wanted the best for her) but it was wrong. Her mom keeps forcing her to stay thin and being obsessed for her daughter being thin.

I like the way she finally speaks up to her mom about this issue and makes up with Jordan (that’s what a true friendship). And I’m glad to know that Valerie finally found her happiness.
