The Anatomist's Wife
by Anna Lee Huber
A past that's troubled, a reluctant heroine... misty Scotland. I was all in before this book even started. But it's still only 3 stars and not because Darby is annoying (I found her to be likable, but I did just read the Lady Julia series so any protagonist with half a brain will win with me right now) it was because the mystery element was way to simplistic. I guessed half way through and kept waiting for the twist that never came. Also our ubiquitous inquiry agent didn't really do much. Usually how these things go is that he is way overpowered and she is just, you know, not stupid. This was in reverse, which is fine, but he needs to develop a function in the next one or he will be just a pretty face.
