Dead of Winter: Good Good Dog by Kyle Starks

2.0

This was based on a game. The premise sounded interesting, so I thought I‰ЫЄd check it out.

But right off the bat, you get the feeling that there‰ЫЄs too much ‰ЫПinspiration‰Ыќ here. Of course, there‰ЫЄs the Walking Dead stuff (though I‰ЫЄve only seen the first season). Rucker reminds me of Merle immediately. Instead of the main good guy being a sheriff, he‰ЫЄs a fireman. My girlfriend was just watching Scrubs, so as soon as Carla says, ‰ЫПOh, Hell no.‰Ыќ I can‰ЫЄt not see Carla from Scrubs.

I wasn‰ЫЄt really a fan of the art. It looks very self-published; not used to what I‰ЫЄm seeing from Oni. And to be honest, I wasn‰ЫЄt much of a fan of the writing either. It seemed kind of slapped together.

There were 2 parts that made me laugh. The ‰ЫПmother lode‰Ыќ they found was pretty funny - and probably had some truth to it.

But overall, I wasn‰ЫЄt really into it. Based on this, I wouldn‰ЫЄt get the game. But the ad for the game made it look like the graphics were better than they are in the comic.

Thanks to NetGalley and Oni Press for a copy in return for an honest review.
