Did not finish book. Stopped at 5%.
Ok so I gave up after 20 pages because I borrowed this from my library on a whim and there are too many great books out there for me to waste my time trying to like something I can’t get into. It’s for kind of a silly reason too - the setting of Bristol is just soooo heavy handed in those first 20 pages! Maybe it’s because I’ve lived there my whole life but it just felt weird and off the way the author described harbourside and the docks? And the narrators were all “Bristol this, Bristol that…” like in a way no one endlessly mentions their destination unless you’re like Lydia off to Brighton in P&P. To be fair the first narrator - Gemma - didn’t feel the need to endlessly tell me about her life in Bristol but I suppose she was too busy being a widow. Anyway, I DNFed for the over mentioning of Bristol and having read one chapter from each POV found only Gemma’s to be tolerable.
